We started with 10 Days in Europe and discovered in a different map game, we pretty much knew where the countries were and their locations in relation to other countries. So we bought the Africa (and Asia) version. 10 Days in Africa is different enough from the Europe & Asia games that it's still a challenge and fun. It's not just "same game; different names" like all the different Monopoly versions. The basic game is the same but the way to get around the map is slightly different. You have to plot and plan.Like Racko (if you've played it), you have to get your 10 tiles in a particular order by picking up new tiles and discarding from your hand. Unlike Racko, you're dealing with countries and ways to travel from one place to another. In the Africa version, travel is by Jeep, Plane or "walking." There are lots of options in getting your 10 days of traveling in sequence. There are some games I always win so the family won't play with me (Boggle, for instance). But with the 10 Days In _____ games, it's a toss up who will win. It takes strategy & skill but it also depends on when the right card comes up. Playing time for us has been 5-20 minutes...and then we play a new round so that takes us up to 10-40 minutes. Add snacks and we may be playing for an hour or so.First off, I must say that I am TERRIBLE at geography. For me, this game was a good excuse to learn geography under the guise of a fun game.Gameplay wise, it involves geography and spatial reasoning. You have to arrange your trip through the continent of Africa by exchanging cards one at a time to end up with continuous countries or appropriate transportation. The game plays well with 2-4 players, and unlike many games is just as fun with 2 players as a group.Over time you do get more familiar with the countries. My folks have every edition of this game and we often play it with them. It is a little too difficult for younger children, but pre-teen or older this is an ideal game to develop spatial reasoning, learn geography and have a great time.My whole family loves this game. Originally purchased for my son, my college aged-daughter and her friends played it until the wee hours of the morning. My husband and I play on a regular basis.Ten Days in Africa is educational but above all it is fun. Strategy is the key to winning the game and maybe a little luck too. Every game is different. The only drawback is only four can play at a time, but there aren't a huge number of countries in Afica to support more than four players anyway. We enjoy this game so much that we are buying the 10 days in Asia and my daughter who is studying Modern Europe wants the 10 days in Europe game.I bought this game to supplement my daughter's daily map assignments on Africa. She is homeschooled, and I am very happy with this product. In addition to filling in a blank map of the continent every morning, we play this game every couple of days, and on the days we don't, she puts together the Africa Geopuzzle. I have been happy with how quickly she seems to be learning where all of the countries are located. The game is colorful, durable and easy to set up and break down. I like that we can play a quick game in between other assignments and it doesn't take a lot of time away from instruction. Because of the success we've had with this product, I am interested in purchasing the other "10 Days" games.Wow! My 9 year old learned the locations of every major country in Africa within a week of getting this game! The whole family loves it, including grandma (and teens, who are often harder to please). It does not cover some of the smaller African nations. But for learning where places like Eritrea and Togo are, it's not only a painless geography lesson, it's great fun. It's also sturdy, with no small pieces to lose (except the cards, which are thick and substantial, so they don't get lost easily. The game is also very easy to learn, so guests can join in right away. And games don't last long, so it's a great one to pull out when you only have 20 minutes. This game is a ton of fun. I've played it at a friend's house. But when I received it, many pieces were missing and some of the countries had too many instead. So it was impossible to play as is with the missing pieces. That was the only problem I had. I did not contact the seller just because it got away from me. Had it had the correct pieces, I would have given it 5 stars.I bought this game for my son so he could learn more about his father's native country - Nigeria & the continent of Africa. It is definitely educational but not very sexy. My family is big into game playing and didn't require much coaxing. However, the game feels more like learning and a bit less like fun. However, it is a quality board game and served it's purpose. This is a great game! We bought it based on a recommendation of a friend. Our son and daughter-in-law live in South Africa, and we wanted to learn more about Africa as well. We liked it so well that we bought an additional copy to take to South Africa as a Christmas present. They show two ways to play: the first is the normal way, which is fine for adults. The second way is for children. We have grandchildren as young as 8 that did just fine with the game, and adults can still enjoy it too. This is definitely our favorite game right now!We love these 10 days games. Bring back 10 days in Asia for a reasonable price Amazon please - they are perfect presents for any family. You learn about geographies by simple play and setting up the journey requires real thought and skill - it is a challenge and great fun. Brilliant…all of them. Our seven year old boy has had the Asia and Europe versions for about two years and is now quite a master...Bought for a Christmas Present, already has 10 days in Europe. It will be well received.Good fun and educationalI bought the "10 Days in...." games for my homeschooled children. Little did I know that I would enjoy the games just as much as them. Even once we no longer need them as learning tools, these games will still have a place on our shelves. They're absolutely wonderful for people of all ages.Definitely enjoying the game, nice quality, fast service and shipping. Kids will love this as a way to learn geography while playing a game.
