I first purchased the other 3 cheaper sets "the cave/the farm/the first night" all of which I really liked. I was craving more LEGO Minecraft so I got "the crafting box" and I am so happy that I did. Having built the other sets first I was already familiar with how LEGO was using certain blocks to represent specific elements from the game - this made creating a set out of the crafting box a more rewarding experience I am thrilled with how my model came out. My recommendation would be to purchase one of the other sets I mentioned in addition to "the crafting box" because by itself the set is missing some mobs that really complete the Minecraft look. Personally I would recommend getting "the Farm" or "the First Night" in addition to this set. Finally be sure to check the prices here against the Lego shop at home website - I have noticed that the Amazon 3rd party seller prices are sometimes double or triple what the price from Lego.CONSThis set includes many different models to build but not all at once. Most of the time models will fall apart when picked up or moved and don't fit the Mine Craft conversion. This means it will be impossible to build in the game. Also, the models do not have many features which makes it hard to play with. Building is also kind of confusing. PROSBeing able to make eight different models will keep people entertained and happy. It is nice to get four exclusive items with this set: A diamond pickax, Lapis Lazuli ore, a furnace, and a Mooshroom. The poster that comes with the crafting box is nice, but the side with a Mine Craft picture is better than the block translator. All in all, I think this product deserves 3.5 stars.Briefly I will share how our family is using the Lego/MC Crafting Box: first, we bought in one purchase The First Night, The Farm and The Cave. The entire current 6-set wave of Lego/MC mini-figure scale theme has a true Lego/MC "signature" spirit of build-according-to-instructions/do-your-own-thing/tear down/rebuild, etc. Yet, we found the three sets just mentioned to be perfect as per instructions and don't particularly want to alter them. This is where the Crafting Box comes in: it perfectly allows for MOCs (my own creations)--and just as perfectly compliments and extends any other sets . I am not sure we will be getting the two remaining sets in this wave (The Mine and The End)--they are the most expensive, for one thing; we may instead choose to spend the money on a total of three Crafting Box sets, which when combined with the First Night, The Farm and The Cave will exponentially increase the building possibilities to the point where they will nearly rival the "real" Minecraft, i.e. the video game.I bought this as a surprise for my 29 year old boyfriend, as we are huge Minecraft nerds. I decided on the Crafting Box versus the other sets, because it seems like this one has more possibilities! It states that it is 8-in-1, but really you can make anything you'd like. The instructions give photos for eight different sets that you can build with the bricks, or you can make up your own.The Crafting Box comes with Steve, a skeleton, and a mooshroom as the main characters/mobs. It also comes with grass, wood, water, lava, sand, and cobblestone pieces. We could create trees and a home as well (it comes with a door). The 521 pieces go quickly and many of them are little, but you can't go wrong with name-brand Lego sets and the Minecraft mini-figs.I got this for my husband for Christmas (he's a child at heart and so am I). I got this item not long after I ordered it. Haha, In fact, I think it was 4 days total (came in perfect time for wrapping). This item came very well packed, so well in fact that I couldn't even hear the Lego pieces rattle around (which is perfect, because he has no earthly idea what this giant box could be holding). I think this is an amazing gift, for kids (and adults) of all ages. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the price, you can actually get it cheaper if you go to the Lego site itself. Wish I knew that sooner. Oh well, it's certainly worth skipping the possibility of the item being sold out.I love this set. I've developed a small addiction to Legos this year, and have bought too many sets. Then I started mixing the sets together to create something new. That's when I discovered the problem with modern sets: too many special pieces. This set comes with lots of pieces and very few specials. As a friend pointed out: Minecraft is basically virtual Legos, so you don't need anything but the classically shaped bricks. And you get a lot of them in this set. The book comes with several ideas to build, but I had fun building my own ideas. This is easily the best-value Lego set I've bought.Ordered for my son's 8th birthday - he loves his Lego City and adores Minecraft and this was a hit! Instructions are straight forward and easy to use-same as items from Lego City. This might be a little difficult for some younger kids to put together alone, depending on their patience level, but we always enjoy constructing his Lego items together anyways. Then he has hours of play, both independently, as well as together. Love that it allows him to still enjoy Minecraft, but without being tethered to his iPad or xbox sometimes.nice assortment of pieces and is a great gift idea for lego lovers. A throw back to the days before 'kits' when kids could use their imagination to build something. The LEGO kits are amazing and sophisticated and my son loves building them however, once the kit is built, he usually does not disassemble it. So, it's nice to have a set of bricks devoted just for making little things that he could readily take apart to build something new. Thanks, LEGO for continuing to make fine products.Grandson loves LEGO and love this minecraft LEGO. Great set as as 8 possibilities for building plus more if you use your imagination. Yes, price is a bit ridiculous but this is LEGO, what can you do? Has kept my grandson interested for many hours.Great productIt was Lego...you can never go wrong with LegoGreat lego set but there are no instructions on hown to build each set. We just went on line and got them thoughMy 9 year old daughter has been playing with it everyday for the past month. She loves building and minecraft!
