This is great with portion control and the little bag it comes with is so cute. I never put any liquids in it so I can’t review on wether it is leak proof. Otherwise it’s pretty great for the price. It comes with its own insulated sack and a set of utensils. However; the interior dimensions make it difficult to pack adult portions. The base section has 1 1/4" of usable height because the lid recesses in a bit. It can hold a nice portion of pasta or salad, but, since it is only 3" wide and 6 1/2" long, it is impossible to pack a sandwich without cutting it into very small portions. The bottom section has a cover that sets on top to prevent sauce from transferring to the bottom of the middle section; however, it is not liquid tight. The middle section is 1" high, but you lose a tiny bit of that to the inset portion of the top section. The kit has one removable divider that can be used to separate snacks, but it simply sets in and slides freely, so it will not prevent liquids or sauces from seeping from one side to the other. The top section is also 1" deep, but gains almost a 1/2" with the slightly domed lid. The lid has a silicone seal and clamps tightly to the lower layers. I don't know that I would trust it with pure liquids, but it will keep sloppy sauces and dressings neatly inside. Finally, the set of utensils are cute, but not very functional. There is a fork with a lightly serrated edge on one prong to act as a knife, and a spoon. The handles of each taper slightly and have grooves on the lower portion so they can be used as chopsticks. Being only 6 1/2" long, they fit neatly into the bento box...if you sacrifice the middle level to only hold the utensils, but they are awkwardly short chopsticks. The eating portion of the fork and spoon are only 1" at their widest points (center of the bowl of the spoon and base of the prongs on the fork) and quickly taper to 3/4". They are tiny. The bowl of the spoon holds less than a teaspoon of liquid. Finally, the insulated sack is a pretty drawstring bag lined with silver insulated material. However, it is not padded and does not seal tightly enough to maintain safe temperatures for packing perishable items for school. The bento box is easy to open and shut and nicely sized for children though, so it would work nicely for non-perishables or placed in an insulated lunchbox with an icepack. Overall, it is a nice kit. It does hold a fair amount of food, but the 3" width requires most items to be cut into awkwardly small pieces. If they would just widen the kit by 1", it would be one of my favorites. So I gave this a 4 on portion size. I like to pack chicken Pattie’s for lunch for school. They typically don’t fit in it and I have to shove it in there or cut it up. But it’s great for holding fruits and chips and pastas too! It’s hard to clean though! One container I had ketchup in it and when I washed it the stain from the ketchup won’t come out. I scrubbed and scrubbed and can’t remove it. So it is difficult to clean sometimes. It’s a great lunchbox and container but the lid doesn’t always click in place and stay I have has blueberry juice leak out into my lunchbox and sometimes sauces like ketchup or ranch. Uhm I unfortunately dropped the box one time and it chipped the lid very easily so it’s fragile. The bag it came with has also started fraying and the threads are coming apart. It is a wonderful purchase I don’t regret it, it’s very useful, very aesthetic, lots of compliments on it. However it’s not perfect! I do however recommend buying tho! This is the perfect portion size if you are controlling your food. It allows different foods for each level. The utensils fit inside to stay clean. The lid, however, does not stay snapped down allowing food to be spilled all over the bag. We ended up using 3 rubber bands to hold the entire unit together. Still using it.Only thing was that it's smaller than what I thought it would be. Usually there's one that's deeper but still works ?Being familiar with Japanese bento, this is perfect for my needs. Anyone who isn’t familiar I would err on the side of caution only because I saw a lot of reviews about it being “too small”. I put 3 stars because of this, it’s not intended for an average “American meal”. This is accurate in size and portion for a typical Japanese lunch bento. There are some deeper and different shapes out there too, but you will find they’re all similar with the smaller portion, it’s a cultural food consumption difference.I love how this came with a bag, it’s really cute and fits the box well with even some space for other things like a drink or side snacks. The spoon/fork it came with looks like it can also be used as chopsticks but it’s really awkward because of how small/short they are (and I have small hands). Overall I think it’s perfect, looks really easy to clean and we’ll see how it stands up to multiple use! I’m excited to use it!Absolutely love this! The size is perfect for me and lunches, comes with all the stuff you need and it all works. It's not flimsy or anything, it's good quality and definitely gonna last a long time. Only thing I didn't like was the texture at the bottom of the containers, the little groves, but that's probs just me cause I have texture issues especially when washing dishes :/I bought this product because my wife was starting a new job and my joy when I receive I dont know what the hell is this and realise my wife is a mythical creature so small she could eat from that box, half a sandwich will never fit in, don't do soup because you will probably die of starvation after 3 slip but with the spoon who come with it, you will have the impression of doing some tasting and your soup will last a lifetime. The joy that we had on the first clean up, you love puzzle you will love this bento box, the rubber drop on first clean up and my wife who is a wonderful mythical creature turn into a demon for the 1 hour she try to put it back on. You use a spong for clean it up, think twice, it will leave scratch on the see through cover.i realise at that moment that anything hot in this will mostly melt down so it's a no-no.So one thing for sure we regret that thing so much and we try to find it another home but like I said my wife is a mystical creature, she really small (5 foot/100 pound) and even a baby will find it too small and think ya right food could be store in this so on that note don't buy that it's a waste of plastic.Seals, compact for backpack, great portion sizes for all kinds of lunches and snacks, I love the two I bought. I also appreciate the cooler bags that came along with them ,very cute and just the right size. I have had no issues so far, great value! It looks small, but I was actually able to fit an entire pack of instant noodles in the bottom waterproof portion. Depending of the bread you use and how you cut it, I'm sure you could fit an entire sandwich on any one of the three layers. It's very deceving in its volume and size! My only issue it that it was advertised as coming with a complementary bag but it did not.
