So we got this box in 2019 and I couldn't be happier with it. It has been completely exposed to the sun/weather the whole time. While the top color has faded i have not found a single drop of water in it (even though it had been in multiple torrential thunderstorms, tornado warnings, and a small hurricane or 2. I have never had a lock on it and it still has never leaked. It is not 100% bug proof, I have found a couple little bugs and spider webs but I find those in my house too. It has also survived 1 move up the east coast without damage.This box works perfectly for storing pool supplies next to my pool equipment. It's easy to assemble and is sturdy yet light weight. But "as is" I wouldn't actually call it waterproof.There are a lot of open joints after the box is assembled. Vertical joints where the sides and ends are snapped together, and the entire base has a trough that the side and end pieces snap into which provides a direct passage for water to collect on the inside of the box. I don't think the water level in the "trough" would get up to the floor of the box, but I don't think it's a good idea to allow water to stand within an enclosed box. If you look at the picture I provided, I simply filled the trough with caulk and sealed the vertical joints with rubber flashing tape.The finished product is exactly what I wanted! Love it! The assembly was going really good until I had to put on the cover. It's a little too big for just one person to assemble - atleast the lid and the directions say to add the small plastic pieces to I believe the frame first and then 'snap' into the lid...(it could be the other way but either way that the instructions say do the opposite!!)...it was next to impossible to 'snap' them into the lid! Again maybe with 2 people it would have been different but I did it the opposite way and I was good to go after a little maneuvering. A bit frustrating but after seeing it all set up and on my deck, I like it! Just in time for the 3rd snowfall of the season (Nov 5th 2019) in WI!!Storage box is larger then I was expecting which is a plus but not as sturdy as I thought it would be. I would not trust anyone sitting on it but I wanted it strictly for patio storage and I think it will be great for what I want. The assembly was easy as stated in the description but to start the assembly it does take two people to get the sides together. I am not disappointed.I had a problem with the size originally so I had to get a different storage container to hold all of my pillows. But I have subsequently put some of my throw pillows in the storage unit and we have had torrential rains here in Chicago for the last three days. I had also bought a cover for this storage unit which was amazing and I went out today to dry off the unit and I looked inside and everything was completely dry. I would highly recommend this but do make sure that you checked your sizes to make sure that it is enough space to hold your cushions or whatever you intend to use it for.While the box is a pretty sturdy plastic material with an attractive design, it was a little clunky to put together. Not terrible but not easy either. While the description states that it is waterproof, it is not. Water gets in through the cracks/joints where you put it together. The first rain we had all of my cushions for my outdoor furniture got wet inside the box. We had to go around all of the joints with caulking to make it waterproof.It's fairly flimsy. It's just a big plastic box. The process of attaching pieces was a little challenging, as I was afraid of breaking them due to the amount of pressure required for assembly.Good product.
