Absolutely fantastic pack. I was born in 1971 so wasn't really old enough to remember any of the original broadcasts, I was the Paul Daniels era :-) but personally I find David Nixon much more endearing.You can definitely spot the lack of money everyone suffered during the 70's, very ropey props and production, cameras in view, even a bloke on the floor with a smoke machine, although it was all rough around edges, they all have homely charm.The wonderful singer Anita Harris appears on every episode to sing her 70's middle of the road song, sometimes quite cringingly sweet, like the one where she's telling a story to a young boy for what seems an age, your sitting there thinking is this going anywhere? get on with the song already, but this was 70's variety.The guests were all well known celebs at the time at the top of their game, Arthur Askey, Les Dawson, Jimmy Logan, Fred Emney, Joe Lynch, Clodagh Rodgers, Aimi MacDonald, Mary Hopkin, The Beverley Sisters, Ted Rogers, Vince Hill and Jack Douglas (the twitchy guy from the carry on films)David was known to be a pioneer in the use of camera tricks although he never used them during his illusions, for example each episode starts in his dressing room where he's talking to himself in the mirror, practicing is opening trick or his other self giving him a new trick, its quite funny.The four disc pack contains all the remains surviving episodes from the original broadcast videotapes, all are good quality but some have some deterioration due to age of the original tape, some colour break up and dropouts occur but this is to be expected of you are a 50 year old tape :-) but saying that they are all in remarkable condition.This is a MUST for any television historian, collector for anyone into magic or just the nostalgia value on its own is priceless.
