Nick Schillace is one of those artists in the John Fahey vein, in fact, it is coursing through his blood. This is a very good effort and I hope to hear more like it. Check him out at his MySpace site and try CDBabydotcom for buying as they usually carry it in stock. He also has some free d/l songs if you want to ruminate on it a bit. Only criticism is that it is only 36 minutes. These days I expect 40-50 minutes, minimum on a CD. As for the music, it's all original except for one (excellent) Fahey cover. A strong fingerpicker with a solid thumb and nice tone. The songs are a good mix of fast-paced as well as some mellow selections too. And like Fahey, Schillace knows how to use dissonance in just the right amounts. Good stuff!
